Connor McDavid’s Game-Winning Canada Goal Draws Four-Word Message From His Wife

Connor McDavid got a golden goal to add to his ever-growing hockey resume.

The Edmonton Oilers star scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Thursday’s 4 Nations Face-Off final showdown against Team USA at TD Garden in Boston. The 3-2 victory over the Americans gave Team Canada the last laugh in the mini-tournament, which also featured Finland and Sweden.

McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle McDavid, was among the 17,850 people in attendance to watch the heavyweight hockey match. While McDavid and company were out on the ice celebrating the victory, Mrs. McDavid took a snapshot of the TD Garden’s videoboard showing her husband’s photo and later posted it on social media.

She captioned the post with “So proud of you!!!” and added a couple of hearts emojis to go with a pair of Canadian flags.

McDavid was silent for most of the contest, but he delivered when it truly mattered the most for Team Canada, as he found the back of the net off of the assists from Mitch Marner and Cale Makar in overtime. Also scoring in the game for Canada were Nathan MacKinnon and Sam Bennett.

The 28-year-old McDavid also scored Canada’s only goal in their 3-1 loss in the tournament’s round-robin phase versus Team USA.
